England and Scotland, May 2005 : Day 7
< Previous Day | Index | Next Day >

Day 7, Wednesday: After a scrumptuous breakfast at the B&B, Les graciously took me back to the main Callenish stones site so I could get more photos with different light. Since we had to hit the ferry in the afternoon, we couldn't stop to see everything that struck our fancy, so we targeted Luskentyre, with more breathtaking water and beaches. We wandered around here for quite some time. Eventually we continued on St. Clement's Church, with a stop at one point to let me finally get some photos of highland cattle.

St. Clement's church is near the southern tip of the island, and is estimated to date back to the early 1500s. Unfortunately, the church was undergoing some maintenance, preventing a clear photo from some of the better angles.

Short on time, we retraced our route to Tarbert for the ferry, rather than driving up the east coast.

Back to Skye

Back on Skye we were treated to clear views of the Cuillin Mountains, rugged and popular with climbers. Past Skye, we stopped so I could get photos of Eilean Donan Castle in the different light and from the different angle. A bit further on, Les drove up to a viewpoint with a nice perspective of the Five Sisters of Kintail, a well-known mountain range.
